Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado Advocated in Washington D.C.

People become very heated when it comes to politics. That is one of the reasons why politics is meant to be avoided at work, family gatherings, or other friendly social gatherings. However, when enough individuals want to gather in order to initiate change or get a common message or concern noticed, they may organize a trip to the nation's capital.

Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado isn't overly political but he is aware how decisions made in Washington D.C. affects him and other doctors. It was for that reason that Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado decided to join other who were heading to Washington D.C. to advocate for doctors of anesthesia. 

In 2010 and 2011, Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado was one of twenty-one individuals to head to the ASA Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. His purpose was to help advocate for positive changes for anesthesiologists. He and the others focused on four specific issues. 

The first problem addressed by Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado and others of the group was what they call the "33 percent problem" meaning anesthesiology is valued at 33 percent of usual fees compared to other specialties. Their other topics were centered on Medicare cuts, truth and transparency, and rural pass-through. 

Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado's work advocating for anesthesiologists nationwide will always be remembered in the summer of 2010, Sentinel newsletter. Through his experience, Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado learned how difficult it can be to push for change. 

Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado was proud to support his medical specialty at the conference in Washington D.C. If asked to do so again, Matthew Uhlenkott of Aurora, Colorado is ready to once again argue for what changes he sees as necessary. Other than that, he will continue his work as a resident Anesthesiologist and publish his findings based on his medical research.
